Hello from the NorthChamber team
Hello <<First Name>>

NorthChamber  Board President Tim Robinson is urging retailers and tenants in the Whangarei CBD to connect in with Chamber as part of a big push to solve the issues of youth crime and delinquent behaviour that have escalated in the city centre.
As a business owner in the City Centre Tim has a lived experience of the daily challenges of running a business in town. “I am determined to advocate on behalf of the local businesses and have their voice at the table. Chamber are actively working to find answers and strongly encourage collaboration by all the stakeholders to create some long lasting solutions.”

Over the past two months a series of meetings involving retailers, government and youth agencies including Police, Ministry of Education, Whangarei District Council – City Safe, Northern Districts Security, Councillors and local government representatives including MP Dr Emily Henderson and Dr Shane Reti have been held. As a result a task force has been setup headed by Councillor Gavin Benney.

Tim sees NorthChambers role as very clear – “to advocate very strongly for the business owners in the CBD, and to support and encourage interagency collaboration."
NorthChamber will coordinate another flyer drop to occupants in the CBD this week to continue gathering updated contact details. The goal is regular communication to ensure tenants are up to date on developments. A previous flyer drop and meeting has created a core database of around 90 stakeholders, the aim is to ensure every business owner in the CBD has the opportunity to be on the database and be kept up to date fortnightly, with opportunity to feedback and have their voice heard. If you are  business in the CBD and would like to receive regular updates and meeting invites please email comms@northchamber.co.nz with your business details.
