2021 Higher School Certificate Update

The NESA COVID Response Committee has made additional changes to the 2021 HSC timetable to give students certainty in the lead up to performance, practical and written examinations.

In line with Health advice, we will:

These changes mean all students have some additional time to prepare for exams or complete their project and still receive their results this year.

The decision aims to give students as much clarity as possible so they can focus on their studies, their wellbeing and plans for the future.

We know that some students and schools may be facing additional challenges. We will provide further detail on arrangements needed to ensure equity and fairness for all students.

Revised timetables for the language oral, practical, performance and written exams will be published on the NESA website and Students Online by next Friday.

Positive feedback during Covid

We want to express how proud we are of all the students for the positive way they have approached learning from home in the last two weeks. We also want to express our gratitude to all the parents and carers who have been supporting their child/ren to successfully engage with online learning. We really appreciated the feedback you gave us in your responses to the parent survey. We acknowledge that whilst many of you are finding the experience to be much easier the second time around, it is still a challenge for many of our families. We know how difficult this is for many of you who are also juggling working from home at the same time.

The NSW Department of Education held a live Q&A for parents earlier this week which has been highly commended for assisting parent s with advice about how to manage learning from home. You can watch the video of it here

We know that learning from home will continue up until at least 30 July under the current public health orders. We can't thank you enough for keeping your child at home at less absolutely necessary. We continue to have a skeleton staff on site at the insistence of the NSW Department of Education who is following the advice of NSW Health, given how contagious the Delta variant is proving to be. Please continue to stay up to date by regularly monitoring the parent advice from the department here

Year 12 Legal Studies excursion

On Monday July 19, five Year 12 Legal Studies students participated in an online seminar on Identification Evidence run by the University of New South Wales Law Faculty. This seminar gave participating students, Hattie, Eden, Liron, Aidan, and Naomi, an insight into the study of Law at a tertiary level and allowed them to interact with current university students and discuss the operation of the legal system in New South Wales. The students would like to thank Mehera San Roque of UNSW for facilitating the RBSC Law Outreach and Mentoring Program this year and for providing such an invaluable learning experience at this stage of their HSC year.

Year 9 walkaround

Year 9 Commerce students are currently studying Travel and some were tasked with making a walking tour of their local area while learning from home. With stay at home restrictions preventing many of us from travelling, what better way to get to know a new place than to have a local take you around? You can watch one of our students, Finn, as he takes you around his suburb of Dover Heights in this 5 minute video, via this link   we.tl/t-mJbGOHOwJQ
