A Merry Messiah Christmas

I am very excited to share the theme for the Evanston Civic Orchestra and Chorus’s upcoming December concert: A Merry Messiah Christmas! Not only will we explore some wonderful, if lesser-known favorites from Handel’s Messiah, like the uplifting Glory to God and dance-like And the Glory, we will also hear familiar favorites such as the well-known Hallelujah Chorus, the resounding O Come All Ye Faithful, and the triumphant Joy to the World. Each selection from Messiah will be paired with a traditional Christmas carol as a way to highlight the sacredness and meaning of each piece. We hope you will join us at our first rehearsal on September 23rd to share in this exploration of our most beloved holiday melodies and hymns.

COVID-19 Protocol

ECOC will create a rehearsal environment where members can make personal decisions about masking and social distancing. While we are together, be respectful of others and their personal space Don't assume everyone else feels the same way you do. We do ask that members skip rehearsals if they have any cold or flu symptoms, no matter how slight, or have been in direct contact with others who are ill. Members should understand that they participate in ECOC at their own risk.

NU2U Fundraiser on September 25th

Mark your calendar for the ECOC fundraiser at NU2U thrift store the last Saturday in September. Susan will donate 80% of thrift store sales on that day to ECOC. What a great day to do some fall and holiday shopping and support music at the same time! Also, we will need a few volunteers to work the fundraiser and will appreciate those of you who can make some time for this.

New Scholarship Application

We've revised the scholarship application for graduating high school seniors, so be sure to print a new copy. All high school students involved in ECOC should take a look at the scholarship their freshman year so they can start recording their accomplishments and service. A pdf is available to print if you prefer to handwrite your application, or you can make your own copy with fillable fields in Google Docs. Check it out on our website.
