CHRISTMAS IS HERE
Three main events are taking place in Framlingham - see all the details on the Framlingham website.
FRIDAY 3rd DEC 4.30pm - 10.30pm
We are so pleased with the music line up: Castleton Brass Band on Market Hill, The Glass Thistles, TMHS Orchestra, FAYAPs IKARUS, and the acoustic trio Flaxen up at the Castle from 7.30pm.

We have handed out 200 LED lights to make lanterns for a magical procession up to the Castle at 7pm. See the poster on the Fram website or on the notice board section of this newsletter for a full list of what is happening, where and when - starting with late night shopping, a tree lighting up ceremony, Christmas carols, Nativity and storytelling.
SORRY!
There are now no more wrist bands left
Please be aware that entry to the castle after the lantern procession is limited to those with wristbands only. Due to the popularity of the event, there are no more wristbands, and there will also be no tickets available to purchase for evening entry to the castle.

English Heritage are having to manage numbers carefully for the safety of everyone. This is the first event of this type which we aim to improve and develop for future years.

We apologise to those who will be unable to access the castle during the evening, but there will still be plenty to see and do around the Market Hill.

The road will be closed to vehicles from Bridge Street / Riverside up to the Castle from 4.30pm to 8.00pm, including no car parking in this area. Access by special arrangement at the barriers only. Free parking is available in the Fore Street car park as well as the Elms car park on the day.
COLOURS OF CHRISTMAS
Christmas Tree Festival at St. Michaels Church on Saturday 4th December opens at 10am with the turning on of the tree lights and songs from the children of 'Sing Praise’. Festive songs from The Pop Chorus at approximately 11am.

Scrummy cakes and Fairtrade beverages from 10am to 2pm, followed by homemade soup and rolls served by the Framlingham Girl Guides from 12 noon to 2pm.

Stalls include: Fairtrade, Framlingham Soap Company, Christmas decorations, and Stained Glass items.

The trees will be on display daily into the New Year from 10am - 4pm. Free entry, but donations gratefully received for Friends of St Michael's funds towards the upkeep of our magnificent Grade 1 listed church.

Event Poster can be found in the notice board section below.

DOUBLE ST ADVENT CALENDAR WINDOWS

The residents of Double Street are again decorating their windows for Christmas. One decorated window will be revealed on the 1st Dec, another on the 2nd etc. so that by Christmas Day there will be (at least) 24 windows on display.

This event is aimed at providing entertainment but at the same time we like to raise money for our chosen charities which this year are the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH) and the Salvation Army. There will be collecting boxes along the street.

PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY and help with our advertising by telling friends, family and colleagues about the event. The display will continue until Monday January 3rd.

Please note that no expenses are taken by any of the participants so all the money you donate goes to the charities chosen.

COVID-19 OBSERVATIONS NOVEMBER 2021
The local Framlingham Covid response team is continuing to record the number of confirmed positive cases locally, to help target specific help or messaging to try to curb the spread of the disease. The graph shows cases up to 30th October, which are still high, so we should continue to take care of one another as a community as part of learning to live with the virus.

The figures cover a 7 day period in the Framlingham and Hacheston area, from the PHE interactive map (https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map). It is however an indicator only of frequencies of Covid-19 infection.
WINTER GRITTING AND FRAMLINGHAM GRIT BINS

The Town Council has over the years bought a number of Yellow Grit bins which the County Council fill with bags of salt.  There is often a misconception that people put themselves at risk of being sued if they grit a path and someone hurts themselves. The County Council offer to cover people on their insurance if they become registered ‘gritters’ to overcome this anxiety.  Each year the Town Council calls for people to register as ‘Gritters’ so they can take advantage of this offer.

Volunteers who are willing to help to spread the grit are asked to sign a GDPR form and to provide their name and address to the Town Clerk who will add them to the list of Designated Gritters.

Volunteers will then be covered by Suffolk County Council’s insurance. An advice note will also be provided.

The Town Council will be writing to all the Gritters who registered last year but each year new gritters are welcome.  If you wish to register as a gritter please call the office on 01728 720183 or email the Deputy Clerk at dtc@framlingham.com

Requests for new grit bins are considered by the Highways Rights of Way & Lighting Committee. If you live in an area that you think would benefit from a grit bin, please let us know.
