I am an avid fan of all things Star Trek. Two core components of what Star Trek represents to me are particularly relevant to what we have been experiencing since March 2020 and in my career as an educator—the optimism it portrays for the future of humanity and its willingness to explore the complicated facets of morality. 
 
Prioritizing Joy

Joy. A simple yet powerful word. Joy has become a priority for me, especially since the start of the pandemic. Joy is happiness, fulfillment and deep pleasure. As a leader, a parent and an advocate for change, centering joy isn’t always easy.
