Photographer Tom Duffy is the Hoosier Artist Gallery December Featured Artist

Duffy shares his perception and understanding of the environment in a way that will stimulate the imagination and the emotions of the viewer.  His use of morning and evening light and the resulting shadows are an important component in his quest to represent that perception.  His photographs have a wide variety of subject matter and contexts as well as photographic techniques, reflecting his commitment to his wide exploration of the beauty and the mystery in the world.  In addition to Duffy’s photographs and the art of other members, the gallery also offers many large and small holiday gift items and handmade Christmas tree ornaments and cards.

Cicada Cinema presents: Black Christmas (1974)
Thursday, December 16th at the Orbit Room

Synopsis: A mysterious stranger terrorizes a sorority house with dangerous offerings and obscene phone calls over their Christmas break. But the horror may be closer to home than anyone expects! BLACK CHRISTMAS is a timeless, terrifying, and totally demented holiday tradition. Starring Olivia Hussey (ROMEO & JULIET), Margot Kidder (SUPERMAN) and Andrea Martin (SCTV) alongside John Saxon (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) and Keir Dullea (2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY)! Director Bob Clark brings audiences one of the most influential, Hitchcockian slasher flicks of all time. Years before he made the now-timeless comedy, A CHRISTMAS STORY. We hope you will join us as we team up with Shout! Factory, AGFA, and the Orbit Room as we screen the greatest holiday nightmare to ever hit the grindhouse!

Thursday 12/16
Showtimes: 8PM & 10PM |21+
At the Orbit Room (107 N College Ave #001, Bloomington, IN 47404)

Cicada Cinema presents: Tokyo Godfathers
Sunday, December 19th at At FAR Center for Contemporary Art

Synopsis: The late, great Satoshi Kon’s penultimate animated feature film takes place on Christmas Eve, when three homeless Tokyo residents discover an abandoned newborn baby. As they try to solve the mystery of the lost child and the fate of her parents, they confront their own pasts and face their futures, together. A rambunctious and heartwarming tale of unlikely allegiances, drawing inspiration from THREE GODFATHERS, John Ford’s 1948 western classic. Co-written by Keiko Nobumoto (COWBOY BEBOP), and featuring a new dubbed English audio track. We are delighted to team once again with our friends at FAR for this masterpiece of Japanese animated cinema. We promise to have some holiday surprises to make the night an extra jolly one for everybody.
