NEW! LA2050 YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
|
|
|
We're looking for young Angelenos (ages 14 to 24) who are interested in community engagement, philanthropy, and service to participate in our brand new LA2050 Youth Ambassador Program.
If that's you – or someone you know – keep reading!
LA2050 Youth Ambassadors will ask friends, family, and neighbors to share which local issues matter most to them through voting in the 2022 LA2050 Grants Challenge (online from April 18th to May 6th, 2022). Then, we'll dedicate $1 million in grant funding to the top-voted issues.
Through the program, Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to:
- learn about social impact in LA and educational/career opportunities in these areas,
- receive training in community outreach and engagement,
- make a real impact on local issues in their communities,
- be awarded a certificate that can be added to resumes or applications, and
- join a quarterly e-newsletter with job and internship postings, volunteer opportunities, local resources, and more.
The two participants who recruit the most voters will each win a prize package of $500 – a $250 Visa gift card and $250 to donate to the nonprofit of their choice on the LA2050 Ideas Archive. All who recruit more than 50 voters will be entered into a raffle for additional prizes.
LA2050 Youth Ambassador Program sign-ups are open now through March 25th, 2022 to all youth ages 14 to 24 located in Los Angeles County.

JOHN JONES III | President & CEO,
East Side Riders Bike Club
My favorite Los Angeles places and spaces...
PLAY: I love to use the streets of LA, including the CicLAvia events, where I can ride without cars running me off of the road.
CREATE: When visiting the community of South LA, I would head to the jazz section on Central Avenue. We have the Jazz Park and the historic Dunbar Hotel where you can get some good food to eat.
CONNECT: WLCAC in Watts is the home of opportunity in the community. It is also home to the Mother of Humanity, a little-known gem and story to be told in the City of LA. It’s a must-visit and a tourist site that is sitting right in the heart of Watts. WLCAC is also a place where you can volunteer, explore, and hold your company retreat.
LEARN: I recommend USC Annenberg Media because of the work that it is doing in the South LA communities by covering nonprofit and community-based organizations and highlighting the work that is being done in underserved communities.
LIVE: Agustus F. Hawkins Nature Park located in South LA. This park is a gem in the community and offers tyke hikes, nature walks, aerobics for seniors, zumba gardening classes, and open space to picnic.
