THIS WEEK'S ARTS & HUMANITIES HIGHLIGHT
The first calendars date back to the Bronze Age (3000-1200BCE), generally based on the phases of sun and moon. In the modern world, the Gregorian Calendar is most widely used, but many cultures still uses their own calendars for ceremonial events. HRC FREEDOM LAB'S LECTURE "TRANSLATING BLACKNESS"
Recorded lecture now available
This talk examines the historical and cultural significance of the formation of the Association of Negro Studies in the Western port city of Kobe in 1954 and the compilation and publication of the 13-volume Kokujin bungaku zenshu in Tokyo from 1961 to 63.
