As gas prices soar in wake of Ukraine war, Canadians could see cost of goods go up

The geopolitical struggle half a world away is already affecting Canadians, via prices at the pumps, and may, in the weeks and months ahead, increase the price of consumer goods, although the extent to which this will happen is uncertain. “Before the war, we were already seeing very rapidly escalating prices of all sorts of goods,” said Ellen Goddard, an agricultural economist at the University of Alberta. “As oil prices go up, and getting products from point A to point B is just going to get more expensive … some of that’s going to get passed on to consumers.” Read the full article here.

This means that health-care workers will continue having difficult conversations with vaccine-hesitant patients, say the University of Calgary researchers behind an online tool designed to help shape discussion around vaccines, adding that this hesitancy, or outright refusal, has been most prominently on display in recent blockades and convoys and in the low child vaccination rates found across the country.
