The Art Bulletin

Since its founding in 1913, CAA’s The Art Bulletin publishes leading scholarship in the English language in all aspects of art history as practiced in the academy, museums, and other institutions. The journal has published scholarly articles and critical reviews of the highest quality in all areas and periods of the history of art. The Art Bulletin fosters an intensive engagement with intellectual developments and debates in contemporary art historical practice. It is published in print and online four times a year: in March, June, September, and December. It is available as a benefit of CAA membership.

Art Journal

Established in 1941, Art Journal provides a forum for scholarship in the visual arts and to explore relationships among diverse forms of art practice and production, as well as among art making, art history, visual studies, theory, and criticism. It is responsive to current issues in the arts, both nationally and globally, and focuses on topics related to twentieth- and twenty-first-century concerns. Available both in print and online, it is published four times a year in spring, summer, autumn, and winter by CAA. It is available as a benefit of CAA membership.

Art Journal Open

Art Journal Open (AJO) is CAA’s open-access digital journal for the visual arts, which presents artists’ projects, conversations and interviews, scholarly essays, and other forms of content. AJO publishes original work by artists, scholars, teachers, archivists, curators, critics, and other cultural producers and commentators that focus on post-1945 material, with an emphasis on the contemporary.

It also hosts open-access crossover content from the Art Journal, recently such as “A Syllabus on Transgender and Nonbinary Methods for Art and Art History,” which introduces topics and methods from transgender studies to art history.

caa.reviews

CAA’s open-access caa.reviews, founded in 1998, publishes timely scholarly and critical reviews of publications and exhibitoins in all areas and periods of art history, visual studies, and the fine arts, as well as digital scholarship and long-form articles. The journal is published on a continual basis. It also currently houses CAA’s dissertation roster.
