Attendees from across Texas and other parts of the country enjoyed industry-leading expertise through the PartnerSource Employer’s Conference from the comfort of their own homes, possibly in bunny slippers.

The special 20th anniversary event on October 1 looked different than past years’ in-person events, but the opportunity to connect, educate and engage brought those interested in Texas injury benefit programs together to hone their skills and hear discussions on changes that impact business in Texas. Read more.

Relying on the largest claims database for Texas injury benefit programs, PartnerSource has released the 2020 Texas Healthcare Industry Benchmarking Study. Results of the study indicate strong performance for both injured workers and employers.

“Straight-forward, comparative claim performance data on Texas and other state workers’ compensation systems remains difficult to find, if publicly available at all,” noted Bill Minick, chairman of PartnerSource. “On the other hand, Texas injury benefit programs continue to make big strides forward, in a more competitive environment, to publish university-level studies and simple benchmarks that demonstrate their outstanding performance for injured workers.”  Click here to read more.

Greenshield and Compassionate Service Award Winners Announced

PartnerSource is pleased to honor dedication to better outcomes for injured workers, and annually presents Compassionate Service Awards and the Greenshield Award to outstanding professionals in the industry.

Nancy Lott, an adjuster with Brinker International, and Jose Martinez, claims manager with Providence Risk and Insurance Services, were each honored for their compassionate commitment to injured workers. They were both named winners of the Compassionate Service Awards at the 2020 PartnerSource Employers’ Conference. Jeffrey Strege, formerly senior director of risk management for Sysco Foods and now senior director of risk management with Academy Sports + Outdoors, was honored with the Greenshield Award for his commitment to helping deliver better medical outcomes and economic development through responsible alternatives to workers’ compensation.

“Demonstrating kindness, compassion and empathy in the care of injured workers typify both of these award winners,” Jennifer Hurless, president of PartnerSource, said. “It’s an honor to recognize industry professionals whose work exemplifies the way people should be cared for, the way that PartnerSource and our clients believe people should be treated.”

2020 was an amazing year for Texas injury benefit programs, with:

  1. New, statistically-credible research showing advantages for injured employees and employers,
  2. More transparency in goals and processes,
  3. Successful rollout of an industry-self-regulated “Seal of Approval” for Texas injury benefit programs, called “QCARE,”
  4. Adapting to COVID-19, and
  5. Federal regulatory dialogue on prompt reporting of injury claims.

Year-end elections are already in process, and the 2021 Texas Legislature will kick off on January 21. For a brief discussion on each of these important industry developments, click here.

Together, we have developed the most effective work injury platform in America and will remain keenly focused on the health and welfare of our injured teammates.

For Manuel Sosa, a risk analyst with PartnerSource, numbers tell a story that can help people get back to work after an injury. While he loves the science of quantification (he has master’s degrees in both economics and finance!), one thing that he can’t put a number on is his love for this country, his drive to get here, or how much he loves giving back.
