The Alameda County Health Care Services Agency released a statement today that due to very rapid and widespread increases in the COVID-19 case rate, the State has moved Alameda County - along with 40 other counties - into the Purple Tier, the most restrictive level in the state's reopening framework. See the State's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
See Press Release
Effective Wednesday, November 18, all activities and sectors must conform to the State's Purple Tier requirements. See California Department of Public Health Blueprint Activity and Business Tier allowed openings. The following activities and businesses which were previously permitted must be modified:
- All Retail - 25% capacity reduced from 50% capacity
- Shopping Malls - 25% capacity reduced from 50% capacity; common areas and food courts closed
- Restaurants - Outdoor only; no indoor dining allowed. Additional guidance will be provided on how restaurants can continue to operate outdoors safely as the weather changes. Current guidance is available HERE.
- Places of Worship - Outdoor only; no indoor allowed
- Gyms and Fitness Centers - Outdoor only; no indoor allowed
Alameda County notes that as the situation develops, further restrictions may be needed to slow the spread of the virus. Steps taken to limit gatherings, especially indoors as the holidays near, will help to avoid overwhelming impact on our health care system and limit severe disease and death due to COVID-19.
