Be the Church, wherever you are,
working for the common good of the whole,
as faithful followers of Christ,
in community with one another and others.

Worship With Us This Sunday
This Sunday’s lesson is drawn from Psalm 123, which opens with this line: “To
you, I lift up my eyes…” As someone who does most of my living through my eyes,
I have been doing some thinking lately about what makes for clear-sightedness/God-sightedness and
what, this year especially, has distorted or interfered with my spiritual vision. Ponder this with
me, if you would, between now and when we gather again.
— Pastor Karen
Community Spirit UCC gathers each Sunday morning for an online worship service via Zoom. Log
in between 10:15 and 10:25 AM. Worship begins at 10:30 AM.
All you need is a phone or a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone AND a weekly email invitation
from Pastor Karen with the link to follow. (Reach out to her at
revkaren@communityspiritucc.org if you're
not receiving these invitations.)
Last weekend, Pat Riddell delivered a lovely basket of cards, gift cards, and other delights—all tangible
expressions of your appreciation for my ministry in your midst. What a lovely, warming gesture!
As I have said many times, serving Community Spirit is truly an answer to prayer. Together we are creating
the kind of Christian community that I believe Jesus intended-—love wins and in every conceivable way.
With deep gratitude for the gift each one of you are to me,
Inreach/Outreach Meeting (Rescheduled on Zoom)
Last week, we announced that an Inreach/Outreach meeting was planned for tomorrow, however, the weather won't allow
us to meet outdoors, so it has been scheduled to a Zoom meeting next Friday, November 20th at 1:00 PM.
If you did not receive an email invitation when the meeting was scheduled, please go to the church calendar where you will
find the necessary link.
If you have any questions or wish to add something to the agenda, please contact either of the co-chairs:
With the election behind us, let’s turn our attention away from campaign rhetoric to being God’s
love in the world. Time to ‘Be a Blessing’ — and to share that message and all that it means
with the world.
The Rocky Mountain Conference is selling these yard signs as a way to "be a blessing" in your neighborhood.
They would like to see every congregation, pastor, lay leader, clergy, church member, every person who attends,
affiliates or identifies with the UCC to have a Be a Blessing sign (to replace campaign signs
in our yards). Let's flood our neighborhoods throughout the country with love, kindness, encouragement, unity,
and hope! Show us some love!
If you would like to participate in this wonderful campaign of spreading love throughout our community,
contact Pastor Karen (970-275-1725) to order your
signs at $12 each. The deadline for ordering is Sunday, November 22nd. You can pay by cash, check
or online at communityspiritucc.org/give..
You are also invited to take a picture of you with your sign and post it on social media with the hashtag
#BeaBlessing.
Order by Sunday, November 22nd.
Orders will be shipped on November 30th.
If you’re planning to take part in our final book discussion for 2020, please let Karen know that you want a Zoom
link. We’ll be gathering on next Monday, November 16th at 6:00 PM.
Movies at The Ute Indian Museum
This month, our friends at The Ute are hosting a number of films relating to Native American culture and realities. Go
online to historycolorado.org/ute-indian-museum or give
them a call for the schedule; most of their offerings are slated for Saturdays. Movies will be shown in the Chipeta Room
and social distancing is the order of the day. Films are free but no donations will be turned away!
Also, their annual Arts & Crafts Festival is scheduled for Saturday, December
5th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. They will feature Native American vendors as well as Western Slope vendors, gift
shop specials and a silent auction. It's always a great venue for holiday shopping!
If your information has changed or you wish to be added to these lists, please send an email to kim@communityspiritucc.org with the details.
Get Involved: Be the Church
The Leadership Team has created this chart to show the many ways that we serve each other and the community. You are invited to browse it for ideas on ways you might participate in our many ministries. If you have questions, please direct them to Carol Keeney (831-535-2596).

A Time of Prayerful Transition Responding to a fraught vote-counting period, United Church of Christ congregations and interfaith partners continued what they had been doing before and since Election Day, November 3rd: offering nonpartisan prayers for peace, a healthy democracy, racial and social justice, and the healing of a divided nation.
