Los Feliz Neighborhood Council Elections: Calling all candidates!
The Los Feliz Neighborhood Council Elections are coming April 6, 2021, and candidate filing is open through January 19, 2021. File for candidacy at https://clerk.lacity.org/candidate-filing
One big change for 2021: All neighborhood council elections are being held through a vote-by-mail process, with all Los Feliz Neighborhood Council voters needing to register between February 5 and March 30, 2021, through either an online or paper application. Stay tuned for more information about this new process.
The Los Feliz Neighborhood Council is one of 99 neighborhood councils chartered through the City of Los Angeles to directly represent neighbors to the city and the city to neighbors, including by advising the city on the community impact of City Council proposals and by making grants to benefit the neighborhood.
These are volunteer, elected positions within the City of Los Angeles government — we don’t get paid, or collect dues or membership fees. When the city is making decisions about planning or services that affect our neighborhood, we are your voice. All governing board meetings are open to the public, and follow Brown Act noticing requirements.
The election is for positions on the governing board of the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council, but much, if not most, of the work we do is first heard on committees that any stakeholder in Los Feliz can join. We have 12 standing committees and several ad hoc committees, and we routinely consider issues like: police, fire and public safety; transportation; recreation; planning and land use; construction and zoning; education; public works projects; and citywide proposals.
If you want to do more to serve the neighborhood where you live, work or volunteer, this is your chance. Register as a candidate or join a committee.
