Spring Celebration
As I sit to write this note to you, I am astounded to realize that it has been a full year since we announced the wonderful Beethoven celebration concert we would be having in the spring of 2020. Little did we know that our careful planning would soon be thrown out the window, and that we were about to experience one of the strangest and most trying years in recent memory. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for supporting ECOC, especially during this challenging time, and for your continued enthusiasm for bringing music to the Evanston community. The energy and joy you bring to each rehearsal is infectious, and I cannot wait to be back with you. And to those members who for any reason could not be with us this past year: we miss you, and we hope to see you again when the time is right.
As I wrote last year, spring is often considered a time of renewal, growth, and rebirth. While last year’s planned Beethoven Semiquincentennial concert will not quite work now, we can still ‘ring in’ the warmer weather of spring. This new year gives us the opportunity to reaffirm ourselves, both in who we are, and in what we believe. Our April concert will feature music that rejoices in this renewed sense of spirit and life.
I cannot think of anything I would rather be doing than making music with you again after this long, dark winter. I sincerely hope you will join us for our 2021 ECOC Spring Celebration!
Matt
