Athletic Core Values Guide Students in Crisis

An advantage of school-run athletics programs is that the life lessons and skills taught in the classrooms, the labs, the studios and on the stage can be reinforced through sports and vice versa. At LJCDS, we coordinate and collaborate between the various programs and divisions to reaffirm our values and give students a holistic experience.
 

Black History Month Recap


This year’s Black History Month theme, Black Excellence and Opportunity, was created by members of the LJCDS Black Student Union to emphasize the importance of uplifting the Black spirit and experience while centering the need for healing and justice as a community.

The Show Must Go On


COVID has shut down theaters, museums, restaurants, malls, schools, zoos and more. It was only a week after the Upper School musical in 2020 that the LJCDS campus closed and the school shifted to e-learning. Back on campus this year, students were determined to discover a way to safely produce the play The Laramie Project for spring 2021.

Students in Lower School spent their library time learning about Lunar New Year with the book PoPo’s Lucky Chinese New Year.
What is your favorite physical activity? Torreys had the opportunity to jump hurdles, play soccer and run during PE.
Torreys in ECC and Grades 2, 3 and 12 helped decorate Valentine’s Day bags for our friends at Father Joe’s Villages.
Happy 100th Day of School! Torreys celebrated with a visit from Zero the Hero, played games and engaged in arts and crafts.
