Dear Supporter,
Brrr it has certainly been a cold start to Spring hasn't it?! Well the sun is now shining (a little) and we have some warming news in this edition. (As always if its events you are looking for please jump to the bottom of the page).
We say a huge thank you to all our supporters for the fantastic amount we raised for the Cabin as part of the GlobalGiving: Climate Action Week.
We have an update on the Cabin build for you below plus this just in from Carpenters Fellowship lead Tim Potts:
"We have had to redesign the process, within budget and programme, for Covid security. We are now offering participation in the axe hewing stage - for experienced hewers and a limited number of first timers and in the raising stage - lugging timbers, putting together and pegging, hauling on ropes etc - this will be a lot of fun and many hands make light work.
For the actual carpentry stage we are using a 4 man team with an additional volunteer per day.
We will still be welcoming visitors especially in the evenings who want to observe progress and discuss the techniques etc." Tim Potts, Director Oak Frame Carpentry
We are calling out for local gardeners and growers to join our school gardening team so if have a few hours to spare and love to inspire young people then read on. Or perhaps you would prefer to join our regular workday team at the woods or nurturing wildflowers at the allotment?
Nature In Harmony: We have a round-up of findings from the first month of our citizen science wildlife surveys including at an exciting camera trap image!
Mental Health Awareness Week 2021: for this week of awareness we invited Outdoor Counsellor, Hope Randall-Mackay to write a guest blog about the physical and mental rewards of getting out into nature.
We also have a fascinating insight in the process of artist and woodturner, George Shapland on the One Ash Blog.
There's something here for everyone. Enjoy!
