Dear <<First Name>>

We hope you are enjoying this glorious weather!
🌞

This week we have a wide variety of volunteer roles that might be of interest to you.  As restrictions are easing, organisations are re-opening their services and looking to find new volunteers.  We also have an invitation to the first Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Forum - save the date 1 July.

Best wishes
The VARB Team

Here is this week's selection of volunteer roles.  You can search through other volunteer opportunities on our website here.

😊  Care4Calais is looking for volunteers to befriend asylum seekers and refugees.  The majority of asylum seekers in the Redhill area are mums with babies who are wanting to get on their own two feet and looking for a local friend.

👜  Care4Calais is also looking for Distributors to help collect and give out clothes, shoes, toys and supplies for babies.  Items are collected through donation drives and by linking to other local charities.

👫  Age Concern Merstham, Redhill & Reigate needs volunteers to support older people at their Day Centre at Merstham on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays.  Duties include: helping to serve meals and refreshments, washing up and helping with activities.

⚽  The Reigate & Banstead Community Games are being held for 5 weeks from 26 July in Horley, Merstham, Tadworth and Redhill.  They are looking for volunteer Sport Coaches to support their sports sessions, including Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Frisbee, Biking/Cycling and Dodgeball.

🎶  The Orpheus Centre has some exciting volunteering opportunities for Orphest, a live music event on Saturday 31st July to raise money for the college based in Godstone.

📈  Surrey Drug & Alcohol Care is looking for a new Chairperson to provide leadership and direction to trustees and help guide the strategic direction of the charity.  They are also looking for a Trustee who can take an active role in the charity's activities.

👍  Time to Change supports charities & voluntary organisations to recruit young volunteers.  If you are aged 19-25 with experience of volunteering, could you be a Volunteer Ambassador and help encourage other young people to volunteer?

💻  Surrey Coalition of Disabled People is looking for Tech Angels from all sections of the community, to provide remote and/or at-home IT support sessions to people with care and support needs. Volunteers will help clients to get set up on a device, download the appropriate app, and get started with basic tasks.  The aim is to reduce feelings of isolation and increase independence.  Volunteers will receive full training.

💰  Versus Arthritis is looking for a Treasurer to support the Reigate District Group.  You will be responsible for all financial matters, ensuring the branch finances are kept in accordance with Versus Arthritis charity principles.

🌱  SeeAbility is in need of a Gardener to help look after their small garden at their residential home in Horley. The garden gives great enjoyment to the individuals who live there, who have sight loss and multiple disabilities. The garden contains flower beds, shrubs and containers. Plants and tools will be provided, and times are flexible to suit the volunteer.

🏺  East Surrey Museum in Caterham requires Museum Stewards. The role involves meeting and greeting visitors, sharing information, helping with the sale of gifts or helping with displays and exhibitions.

🏃  Run Series is looking for Race Crew Volunteers for their annual event Run Reigate on Sunday 19 September.  You will need to be available for around 6 hours from 7am onwards to help Run Reigate manage the logistics of the day.  Great volunteer opportunity for corporate teams as well as individuals.

🧑🏽‍🤝‍🧑🏽  Tandridge Befriending Scheme especially need volunteers for friendships in Lingfield/Smallfield/Crowhurst and Dormansland areas.  The scheme would also welcome being able to call on more male Befrienders.

🏞️  The Just Bring Yourself experience is a fun, sustainable tourism package for visitors seeking well-being through a great day out walking in the Box Hill area.  They are looking for Tour Guides who love explaining and educating people (children, families, adults) in what makes the Surrey Hills so valuable.

Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Forum
1 July 11am - 12noon

Have you volunteered with older people?
Would you like to share your experiences and meet other volunteers?

The Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Forum is an online network event where local volunteers can meet each other, share their experiences and learn from each other. Volunteers are on the front line of many community services. You often have a unique perspective on how services are being delivered, as well as on your own experience as a volunteer. Come along and share your volunteer story, to help improve community services and support for future volunteers. The focus for July will be “Volunteering with older people”.
