This week at Southpoint I Thursday, January 4, 2024
We are preparing for an on-time departure into the New Year. Please make sure your Attitude and Actions are secured and locked in an upbeat and upright position. All self-destructive thoughts should be turned off at this time and remain off forever. Any negativity, hate, and discouragement must remain completely stowed. In the unlikely event we lose Altitude while under pressure, simply reach up and pull down a Prayer. Prayers will automatically activate if you have Faith. With Faith, you will be able to assist other passengers. There will be NO BAGGAGE allowed on this flight. Now, Captain God has cleared us for takeoff. Our first destination is Love, with continuing stops at Peace and Joy. Before you deplane make sure you don’t leave any of your Hopes and Dreams behind. Once these are lost, they cannot be reclaimed. If there’s anything we can do to make your flight more enjoyable, please do the same by paying it forward. We wish you a pleasant flight! Have a Happy New Year! And may God bring you and your family much peace and joy.
Sabbath School begins at 10:30am on Sabbath and divine worship service begins at 11:30am. If you cannot join us in person, you can join us online at www.southpointsda.org. Either way, we look forward to worshipping with you soon.

ADULT SABBATH SCHOOL
Psalms
The Psalms have been a prayer book and hymnbook for both Jews and Christians through the ages. And though the Psalms are predominantly the psalmists’ own words addressed to God, the Psalms did not originate with mortals but with God, who inspired their thoughts. They are as surely the Word of God as are the books of Genesis and Romans.
The Psalms have been written in Hebrew poetry by different authors from ancient Israel, and so, the Psalms reflect their particular world, however universal their messages. Accepting the Psalms as God’s Word and paying close attention to the Psalms’ poetic features, as well as their historical, theological, and liturgical contexts, is fundamental for understanding their messages, which reach across thousands of years to our time today.
We begin our study of Psalms this quarter with Lesson 1: "How to Read the Psalms." You can review it in your Sabbath School Study Guide or study online at www.ssnet.org. Also, if you haven't already, be sure to pick up a Sabbath School Study Guide for the first quarter of 2024 at the Personal Ministries booth or during Sabbath School. Join us at 10:30 this Sabbath morning as we begin this Bible study.
Would you like to be a panel participant? If so, please email Elder Shelley Lewis at shelleylewis@southpointsda.org or text her at 904.504.7205. Include your name, phone contact and email address.

PRAYER MINISTRY
"Trusting In Trials"
Often, we as believers walk through seasons that are trying and cumbersome. James' words extend grace and encouragement to us to live out our faith, even under pressure-filled situations. Because it's in those moments that faith is tried, tested, and refined.
Have you ever found it challenging to trust God during a trial? Chances are you have. Can you recall how you got through the test? Chances are you have a testimony that was cultivated, that came bubbling over from those pressure-cooker situations. In fact, chances are that one of the key ingredients that got you through was trusting God.
If you're walking through a trial right now, trust God. Even if you don't feel like it, speak it. Consider saying these words out loud: "Lord Jesus, even though I don't feel it, I'm choosing to trust You. Even though my heart is heavy, and my soul is weak, I surrender all."
Join the Southpoint Prayer Team on Thursdays at 7:30pm and on Sabbaths at 3:00pm and 6:00pm. You may also submit your request during Divine Worship and at the Food Pantry.
Total budget needed to operate the church monthly:
$9,000.00
Total church expenses collected through December 30:
$11,294.36
We praise God for your faithfulness in returning your tithe AND offering. Our tithe supports the worldwide church, while our offering supports Southpoint SDA Church. By giving to the Local Church Budget (on the tithe envelope), you are helping to meet the various expenses needed to operate our local ministries and church building.
NAMETAG SURVEY
Do you know the names of the members you pass in the hallway every Sabbath? To help not only our new pastor and his wife, but for EACH of us to learn each other's names, beginning next Sabbath, January 13, we will have a nametag for you to wear. This coming Sabbath (January 6) you will be given a short survey. Please write your names CLEARLY on the survey so that we can have a nametag prepared for you. At the end of service, please return your survey to the table in the lobby. On January 13, we will have your clearly printed nametag ready for you to wear!
