This week at Southpoint     I    Thursday, February 1, 2024

Just a few days left before our Southpoint Ministry Fair. This event provides the opportunity to find your "perfect fit" for volunteer ministry here at Southpoint. First Corinthians 12 outlines 19 spiritual gifts that God endows upon His people. Please prayerfully meditate on the gifts God has given you. If you have not already identified your God-given gifts and the other inventories were too long, here's a shorter one you may want to consider.  And keep this in mind: as a follower of Jesus, exploring and exercising your spiritual gifting is a vital and exciting part of your spiritual journey.  So, take the test, and join us this Sabbath and find your "perfect fit"!

Ministry leaders, you may set your tables up either Friday evening after 8pm or Sabbath morning, before 11am.

Sabbath School begins at 10:30am on Sabbath and divine worship service begins at 11:30am. If you cannot join us in person, you can join us online at www.southpointsda.org. Either way, we look forward to worshipping with you soon.

COVID UPDATE:  Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have lifted the mask-wearing requirement in public places, wearing a mask or face covering at Southpoint SDA Church is optional. However, we do ask that if you have coronavirus or any flu-like symptoms that you remain at home and join us for worship online at www.southpointsda.org.

PRAYER MINISTRY

"Rest"

Only a few weeks into the year, and you are already tired. Somehow, you weren't able to shake the problems from last year.  And those resolutions you made on day one have already been forgotten. Rest sounds very good right about now, doesn't it?
But the rest that Jesus promises is not a retreat from the world.  His rest requires work and education so we can live in the world.  We will have to put effort into learning the lessons He has for us. But it will be a shared effort.  That's what a yoke is for.  It's meant not meant for just one person to carry on her own.  Jesus wants us to be partners with Him in the work.  And partners with Him in the rest.
Perhaps that is why God reveals hidden things to little children (see Matthew 11:25).  Children tend to carry burdens lightly and drop them easily.  They have not yet developed prideful hearts that wish to take on more than they can carry so they can show the world how strong they are.  They share their loads as easily as they share secrets, or cupcakes.
Are you weary?  Are you carrying more than you can support on your own?  Come to Jesus.  Take on a burden that is only light.

Join the Southpoint Prayer Team on Thursdays at 7:30pm and on Sabbath at 3:00pm and 6:00pm to share you burden and rest.

As more information becomes available, we will pass it on.
