With overheated competition for prime vineyards on the Cote d'Or much of the energy and dynamism has leaked out to the south, to Beaujolais where quality has soared in the last 10 to 15 years and a group of young producers are setting new standards using traditional fermentations of Gamay and making the most of the best terroirs.
