ATD Fourth World now has a new National Leadership Team with a fresh mandate to take the organisation through the next five years. Currently the members of the NLT are Murielle Double, Tish Mason, and Lareine Mouoguia. The renewal group had envisaged there being two members of the International Volunteer Corps (IVC) on the NLT, and the door is still open to another person from the IVC joining the NLT. It is predicted that the hand-over period from the previous NLT to the one coming into being, will last from the 1st of June to the 30th of September 2024.
Tish Mason has been Chair of the Board for eight years. Since she has joined the NLT, she is stepping down from this role. Simon Haworth will be putting himself forward for election to chair to the Board at the meeting in June 2024.
A well-being support group is being developed by Patricia Bailey, Susana Castro Mustienes, Kate Evans and Gertraud Trivedi. Taking inspiration from explorations in this area already begun, it is tasked with promoting the well-being of all members of ATD Fourth World, recognising that the work can sometimes be emotionally challenging.
We have a new mandate and NLT; however, the vision of ATD Fourth World remains the same - a world without persistent poverty, where everyone is valued, can participate fully in society, and fulfil their potential. The NLT’s purpose is to build on what has already been achieved, supporting the programmes Together in Dignity and Giving Poverty a Voice, and events around 17th October, the United Nations International Day to End Poverty. The 2024-28 timeframe will also be key to confirm a sustainable plan to run, manage, use in appropriate ways or not two major properties held by ATD Fourth World (the national centre in Addington Square and Frimhurst Family House) and the NLT will play a key role in this process.
If, on reading this, you feel you have skills, knowledge, or experience, which could be useful to any aspect of ATD Fourth World, including the NLT, then do please get in touch. Working collaboratively is one of our key values, and it is in coming together that we can create a flourishing future for the organisation and all the people who are involved in it.
