Who can volunteer for a better LA? YOU can!
We’re so proud that more than 3,500 people came together to contribute almost 9,500 hours of service through our LA2050 Grants Challenge volunteer activations.
Earlier this year, we gave $5,000 mini-grants to 24 organizations to host volunteer activations across the Los Angeles region. The events – which took place from April 2nd to May 8th – provided Angelenos with meaningful opportunities to impact the issues that matter most to them during our Grants Challenge voting period, complementing their online votes.
Volunteers cleaned up a local beach, helped a former foster youth move into their first home, assembled lunches for those in need, beautified an elementary school garden, taught older adults to use technology, and much more.
We invite you to learn more about each of the 24 volunteer activations, and their collective impact on LA, now on the LA2050 Blog.

SHERRI FRANCOIS | Executive Director, The SoLA Foundation
My favorite Los Angeles places and spaces...
PLAY: I decompress by playing tennis. It's my happy sport. I get a workout without feeling like I'm working out. It's also a very social game. I love LA's free public courts!
CREATE: Excited to be developing the SoLa Tech & Entertainment Center powered by Live Nation opening its doors in the Crenshaw District early 2025! Look out for the next generation of tech and entertainment leaders from South LA!
CONNECT: Volunteering for the LA-based Dream Street Foundation for over 25 years has been one of the best experiences of my life. Getting to know such incredible young people who are dealing with life-threatening illnesses has been a game changer in appreciating all the good things in life and not sweating the small stuff.
LEARN: I'm a UCLA Bruin through and through. I highly encourage higher education and work with a team that supports South LA youth who are pursuing college. Go Bruins!
LIVE: LA has some of the world's best beaches. I have gratitude for being able to visit our beaches regularly and not have to leave our backyard.
