Ponderings

This past week I officiated at a wedding – what a joy it was! Family and friends gathered and told stories, laughed, and cried tears of happiness. It was one of those time capsules within life – a moment where time seems to stand still, and we can escape the ordinary and see the spectacular love God has for creation.

There can be other moments when time stands still and we see God – the birth of a grandchild, holiday gatherings, funerals, the taste of coffee on a crisp morning, our favorite hymn playing. The list is as varied as each of us.

This week be intentional about looking for those time capsule moments where you can see God at work. They are there if we have eyes to behold them.

Shalom, Paul

A Palm Reader's Look into the Future

This Sunday I will be attending The Pride Parade! Pastor Jim will lead worship. Read Luke 18:1-8. When has complaining and bothering those in power ever altered the wheels of justice? When has advocacy, insistent faith, and reckless love changed the systems of our society?

In case you missed the email scam alert that went out yesterday evening: Some of our members are receiving scam emails that appear to be from me, requesting a favor and a reply. With further email engagement, the imposter requests gift cards. This is an attack on the trust and faith you place in your pastors; please stay aware and follow the guidance sent out yesterday.

Sign up to be an usher.

Registration for our 19th annual interreligious conference is still open. It will take place November 4 & 5.

Check the church calendar for upcoming events.

We'll be celebrating both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day at The Palms. We're inviting the community to join us for a meal on Thanksgiving. Be on the lookout for opportunities to donate food and to volunteer to help. Christmas Day is a Sunday and both Pastor Jim and I will be leading worship – we hope you can join us.
