Following the 2023 SNZ Event Calendar announcement on 7 September, we received feedback from coaches and regions asking that some of the proposed changes be reconsidered before the final details relating to each event are circulated. We also received clear and consistent feedback that further consultation was required. We have sought feedback from selected coaches and all regions and discussed these at a full meeting of the Events Advisory Committee yesterday.
As a result. the EAC has unanimously agreed, supported by Swimming NZ, that the changes communicated on 7 September will not proceed in 2023. However, the EAC also unanimously agreed that changes do need to occur to these events, but this will form part of the Competition Restructure & Competitive Pathway Review commencing next year.
We are currently finalising all the documents for each respective event and will be releasing on each event webpage next week. This includes the event information, event schedules and qualifying times, as well as confirmation of venues and dates. We will notify the community on the day they are available.
