Please join us at a beautiful private home and gardens in Southern California for an evening celebrating OurBrainBank with remarks from founder Jessica Morris's family, a senator, neurosurgeon, and more.

Welcome Alice Stebbins, Executive Director

We’re excited to welcome Alice Stebbins as our new Executive Director. Alice brings to the new leadership role profound personal experience as a GBM caregiver, together with a wealth of professional skills acquired over more than 30 years running large state agencies for California.

Alice lost her husband Jim to gliosarcoma – a rare form of glioblastoma – in 2009. Photo above shows her family in 2008, celebrating Jim's recovery from his first surgery.

In her distinguished career, Alice worked in a number of senior roles: accountant, forensic accountant, administrator and executive director. She has a proven track record of public service, ensuring fiscal and operational integrity, which she will use to tackle GBM and lead OurBrainBank into our next exciting phase of advocacy, innovation, and support for patients and families facing this brutal disease.

GBM in the news

OurBrainBank board members Nicola Nuttall and her daughter Laura, living with GBM, have raised an incredible amount of international awareness about GBM with articles in the BBC, People, and dozens more.

The Guardian and the Philadelphia Inquirer covered an unusually high rate of GBM in professional baseball players at one park. Is AstroTurf to blame?

A doctor writes with humor and poignancy about his own GBM diagnosis: "Over time, I became a slow but reasonably proficient knitter. I’ve knit alligator-shaped scarves, hats... and many pairs of socks. A single pair might take me a hundred hours to make. Based on my hourly wage as a physician, a pair of socks can cost me $20 in yarn and $6,000 in labor."

Survey on personalized care

We asked the OurBrainBank glioblastoma community if they received patient-centered care — the #1 Right in our Glioblastoma Bill of Rights. A mix of people living with GBM, care partners, and those who lost a loved one to GBM shared their experiences.
