A Time of Prayer
First Wednesday of the Month at 2:00 pm
Join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm for our service of worship and prayer to give thanks for our joys and express our concerns for ourselves and for those of our parish in need of prayer.
We are delighted to welcome the Rev. Canon Dr. Shane Scott-Hamblen as the next Rector of St. Michael & All Angels. Jan. 15 will be his first Sunday with us.
Father Shane loves God and he loves God's people. He has a proven record of community engagement and will meet everyone where they are. He is committed to involving children, youth, and the marginalized into full participation in the life of the congregation. He will guide us to be a church that lives up to Christ's charge to love our neighbor as ourselves with open hearts, kindness, and respect.
Father Shane's arrival marks the end of a nationwide rector search and two years of prayerful discernment. Huge thanks to this congregation for your faith, prayers, and patience throughout this process. Thanks to our Transition and Rector Search committees for their dedication and many hours of hard work. Thanks to our Vestry to their perseverance and commitment.
Celebrating the Rev. Canon Dr. Barbara Stewart
This Sunday, Jan. 8, we are overjoyed to celebrate the Rev. Canon Dr. Barbara Stewart’s 30th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. In lieu of a homily, members of St. Michael’s will reflect on the breadth and meaning of Barbara’s ministry among us. The celebration continues with pastries and nibbles after the service.
Next week, we are excited to welcome The Rev. Canon Dr. Shane Scott-Hamblen for his first Sunday as Rector of St. Michael and All Angels!
Christmas Beauty
Each Advent season the Altar Guild and Flower team decorate the church so beautifully for the celebration of Christmas. Other areas vary in their level of festive decor depending on individual resources.
This year I especially noticed how splendidly Saint Michael's room was adorned with Angels and pictures of the Christmas story and other tasteful touches to create a peaceful space.
When I asked Susan Caldwell who did the decorating she announced that the Youth Group had taken it upon themselves to do the job. Our Youth Group is small but mighty and often show their commitment to Jesus and the community at Saint Michael's when no one is looking.
I love that about our church, and appreciate our youth and all that they do to make space in their hearts for this special family.

Communion in both kinds.
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey you are welcome to come forward to receive the consecrated wine and wafers. Wine will be served by our chalice bearers from the common cup. In keeping with the pandemic safety guidelines from our bishop, the communicant may drink from the chalice or, in the alternative, the priest will dip the wafer into the wine and place it directly on the communicant’s tongue. If you prefer not to have wine, simply cross your arms over your chest after receiving the wafer.
COVID UPDATE as of February 15, 2022:
All worshipers who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks at indoor gatherings. However, if you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask as required by the state COVID guidelines. Masks are available at the entrance to the church. Thank you all for your help in keeping our church a safe place for those most vulnerable.
Share Your Joy
Through Flowers
Members of the congregation may sponsor altar flowers, chapel flowers, and the sanctuary light in thanksgiving for all the blessings of this life or in memory of loved ones.
