February Partner Update

On Tuesday 7 February the Lancashire Tourism Awards winners were announced, with the help of guest presenter and Britain's Got Talent legend Steve Royle.  All 24 awards were announced including the new Hospitality and Tourism Student Award and the Special Recognition Award, won by Crow Wood Hotel and Spa Resort.  One of our newest Visit Lancashire partners, Ribble Valley Retreat, had a particularly good night, celebrating winning both the New Tourism Business and the Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park Awards.  Congratulations to all winners and finalists and thank you to our sponsors for making it all possible.  

Lancashire has also been celebrating some other news, as the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastro Pubs was announced.  Lancashire has three pubs in the top 10 and even the coveted top spot.  Congratulations to Parkers Arms in Newton in Bowland for topping this prestigious list, Freemasons at Wiswell for taking the third spot and The White Swan at Fence, listed in seventh place.  Three remarkable Taste Ambassadors in the UK’s Top 10 is testament to Lancashire’s outstanding gastropub offer.  Congratulations also to The Higher Buck in Waddington, who achieved position 56 in the extended Top 100 UK Gastropubs.

This month we have welcomed new Visit Lancashire partner Flotel Suite, a new Lancashire business, offering a perfect mix of luxury and comfort on the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Also joining in February Carnes Fine Art, an independent art gallery, located in the Design Shed at Cedar Farm in the rural, beautiful setting of Mawdesley.  Marketing Lancashire thank them for their support and look forward to working in partnership over the coming year and beyond.

Lancashire Tourism Awards winners announced

On 7th February the day finally arrived when all the winners were announced.  The setting was the new Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre and the mission was to celebrate the industry in a glittering awards ceremony. 

Supported by our valued sponsors, new awards were debuted, new contacts and friends were made and a great time was had.  Congratulations to all the winners and finalists.  Thank you for being part of #LTA22. 

Winners in eligible categories will now go on the represent Lancashire in the national awards, the VisitEngland Awards For Excellence.

A new calendar of partners' drop in sessions have been scheduled for 2023, across the county.  Partners are invited to come along, share news and plans and discuss how to get the most from your partnership.

The next one is on the 8th March, at The Forest Fence, all welcome.

Festival of Making 2023 Food Producer Market

Calling all artisan and local food producers.  The National Festival of Making’s Food Producer Market, in collaboration with Taste Lancashire, will return this summer at the fifth annual festival weekend.  

Each year the festival becomes home to a curated selection of fantastic produce, offering the best that Lancashire has to offer.  From bakers to cheese makers, fudge creators to gin makers we want to hear from you if you would like a stall.

Next week Marketing Lancashire will be attending VisitBritain’s Explore GB event.  This is a fantastic opportunity for us to promote Lancashire on an international scale to tour operators, organisations and DMCs all over the world. 

The team currently have 58, 10 minute, one to one meetings across the five days, and will be showcasing the very best of Lancashire’s offer.

National Geographic PR coverage

Marketing Lancashire has worked with the National Geographic on an article in the March edition.  The article entitled 'What to do in the Ribble Valley' opens with 'Discover a literary trail, cycling paths and picturesque villages in this little-known corner between northeast Lancashire and North Yorkshire, where nature takes centre stage.'
