Dear Friend,

|
In these pages, I am honored and overjoyed to share with you all that we did and learned in 2022 - a truly remarkable year. Please join me in celebrating the many achievements we realized together in 2022, in our pursuit of a world in which every child thrives.
Challenges and heartbreaks are all around us, from threats to our precious children's safety to encroachments to our fragile democracy. And, yet, the joy and love that surrounds the Book Harvest community - in abundance - gives me such hope. I feel it every day when I glimpse the tangible evidence of our work: home libraries built; vocabularies flourishing; the delight felt by a parent and child sharing a favorite book.
I am so proud of the Book Harvest community and its fierce commitment to every child's success.

Words to Live By: Reed Murphy
|
|
Reed Murphy lives in Wake Forest, NC, with his wife, Beth and his daughter, Lily. Reed grew up in Durham and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. Lily started losing her hair at the age of three and was diagnosed with alopecia totalis. Reed is enthralled with Lily’s imaginative perception of the world and her question about a dinosaur’s butt (or lack thereof) inspired him to write his recent children’s book, Dinosaurs Don’t Have Butts.
___
What are three children’s books you think should be on every child’s bookshelf?
...my personal favorite children’s book of all time: The Nighttime Book by Mauri Kunnas. It’s a book about what all the people do who are up working at night while we sleep. My mom held on to the original copy of this book and I eventually was able to read it to my daughter, Lily, who enjoyed it as much as I did. It was so cool to be into the book while I read it to her as much as she was. Truly magical memories for me.
