Dear Friends,
Spring has arrived with gusto and I hope you've had a terrific weekend! As this is being written, Princeton is in the middle of an unseasonable warm spell. It's warm, dry, and lovely.
April this year is marked by a number of celebrations of faith around the world. As I go through a list of these celebrations in my head, it reminds me that no matter our faith and no matter our background, we are all in this together. We all have a role to play, and a duty to try to make the world a better place. Fortunately, making the world a better place can sometimes be as simple as making a difference for a single person who then passes it on to another. It reminds me of a favorite quote.

It's been an amazing month since my last Newsletter and there's lots to catch you up on.
Let's get started!

Some of you know that I had the privilege of training with legendary Neurosurgeon Peter Jannetta. It's a small world, and the world of Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) is even smaller. In this video, I'm joined by a previous patient of Dr. Jannetta. My guest had Microvascular Decompression surgery for Trigeminal Neuralgia many years ago with Dr. Jannetta. More recently, he developed TN on the other side of his face. His wife had somehow made a note about my training, and when the time came they reached out to me. It was very special to be able to utilize the skills I learned from Dr. Jannetta to help one of his previous patients. In this video we reminisce about the impact that Dr. Jannetta had.
Watch it now.

Wedemeyer Lecture
April 3 West Point: The General Albert C. Wedemeyer Strategic Lecture Series Endowment is a part of West Point’s Center for Enhanced Performance. This endowment honors the intellectual and strategic legacy of General Wedemeyer through a series of lectures, think tanks, or roundtable discussions for cadets and faculty. It's a highlight of the year for my family.

As many friends know, my Dad wrote "General Albert C. Wedemeyer: America’s Unsung Strategist in World War II", a biography of Wedemeyer that grew out of Dad's work obtaining his Doctorate in History.

Wild horses couldn't keep me away. I was thrilled to be there March 16-18 to see this year's NCAA Championships. What an event!

Got to see Four time All-American Patrick Glory wrap a perfect 25-0 season by becoming Princeton's first National Champ in 72 years with a 4-1 win over Matt Ramos from Purdue. It was incredible to be there to see history made.

Proudly watched Three time All-American Quincy Monday top off his outstanding career at Princeton with a 3rd place finish at this year's National Championship event.
I've had the privilege of knowing both these amazing wrestlers and young men for much of their careers.
Congratulations Patrick and Quincy and all the members of the Princeton Wrestling Program.
Check it out on Instagram.

Although NeuroRounds is intended as a LIVE event, I've decided to offer occasional video clips that discuss a condition or situation in more detail. Typically 5=6 minutes long, these clips are densely packed with real world medicine. During this episode, Dr. Justin Elkrief joined me in discussing surgical treatment options for a patient diagnosed with Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy. A Med Student was tasked with describing the pre-operative imaging. Med Students and medical professionals are guided through the symptoms, imaging, and decision making process, and Dr. Elkrief and I discuss laminoplasty as an option. NeuroRounds is CME approved and 100% free.
If you're serious about medicine, I invite you to join us at 7:00 AM on the first Tuesday of the month. Watch this video to learn more about Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy and how NeuroRounds can up your medical game. .
