Wanderer,

I was listening to a talk recently and heard a wander-full quote, that I've been saving to share with you at an opportune moment. The quote is a timely invitation, and the perfect segue from my previous message about childlike wonder, into what I wish to share with you today.

Kameelahs' words are inscribed on the atrium of the Brooklyn Central Library. It reads like a mantra for discovery and interconnectivity with the world around us.

It's a perspective that invites us to let go of the known in favor of finding the right kind of trouble (PS below) through curiosity, wandering, and experiential learning.
This is the last message you'll receive from me for about a month. On Memorial Day, we're leaving the certainty of our daily rhythm and structured routine to embark on a freedom to wander tour in the form of a road trip.

We kicked off the exploration a week ago Friday when we spontaneously played hooky on our responsible adult selves and followed our natural instincts to the park; Pinnacles National Park.
We hiked through pitch dark caves (with flashlights) and discovered new waterfalls inside the caves that weren't flowing the last time we visited, about 10 years ago. It's the prime environment for marveling and wandering.

The park has a unique blend of forest hiking, cave exploring, and desert terrain. We soaked up some energy from the sun and the massive rock structures at the reservoir and surprisingly, had the place to ourselves.
If you live in SLO county and haven't visited this marvel of a park, or at least for some time, now is the time before the waterfalls dry up, the temps rise (currently in the upper 80's), and the crowds increase.

You can camp overnight, purchase a day pass, or purchase an annual or lifetime National Parks pass if you're a senior or veteran. We purchased the annual pass since we're including more National Park tours in our wandering.
There's an East and a West Pinnacles entrance, both parks are sensational and the same distance from SLO. We chose the East entrance this time, it's truly a transportive experience.

It's optimal to go during the week if you can and arrive early for best parking options. Both parks are a about a two hour drive from SLO and there's an abundance of awe to marvel at as you wander about.
I'll be teaching this week as usual then the wandering begins and the class schedule will shift accordingly. I'm thankful for my backup teachers Gwynne and Kathryn, you'll be in good hands. Below are the details. . . Have a Wander-Full month

PS I was all set to send this message out when I received this piece from my teacher Michael Meade. It's in alignment with the quote about leaving the flimsy certainty of our known reality to wander and discover ourselves anew.
Michael Meade is a renowned storyteller, author, and scholar of mythology, anthropology, and psychology.
In this 4 minute video, Michael explains how the point in life is not to avoid trouble at all costs. The point is to find the right trouble to be in; for when in trouble we are closer to inner resources we did not know we had and nearer to the knowing spirit that brought us to life in the first place.
