Genomic Monitoring of Pathogens in Water (GeMPaW)

C3 Data Hub

The AMR - One Health Consortium will be leading an opportunity to collaborate and contribute to AMR surveillance in water. Genome Canada has launched the $10M call: Genomic Monitoring of Pathogens in Water (GeMPaW) to help Canada defend its population, wildlife and environment from major threats posed by emerging pathogens (EPs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), including antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes. Although open to all Genome Centers to apply, the AMR-OHC will be leading an application that will include many members from Western Canada and industry, as well as other provinces. Interested in participating? Please contact .

Host innate immune responses and microbiome profile of neonatal calves challenged with Cryptosporidium parvum and the effect of bovine colostrum supplementation

Lisa Gamsjäger, Karina M Cirone, Steffany Schluessel, Mackenzie Campsall, Aydin Herik, Priyoshi Lahiri, Daniel Young, Antoine Dufour, Panagiotis Sapountzis, Saria Otani, Diego E Gomez, M Claire Windeyer, Eduardo R Cobo

Calves are highly susceptible to gastrointestinal infection with Cryptosporidium parvum (C. parvum), which can result in watery diarrhea and eventually death or impaired development. With little to no effective therapeutics, understanding the host's microbiota and pathogen interaction at the mucosal immune system has been critical to identify and test novel control strategies. Click here to read more.
