Speaking of Everything
Los Angeles, CA—Welcome to my every-other-week newsletter, coming to you live from the Television Critics Association winter press tour, where I made some news on Thursday.

During a press conference to preview Season 5 of AMC’s Better Call Saul, I got more answer to my question than I’d bargained for, when producer Peter Gould announced the show would return for a sixth and final season. I had barely tweeted the news out when the trade papers jumped on it — but just remember, you heard it here first!

On to all the new reviews and analysis...

‘68 Whiskey’ is ‘M*A*S*H’ for our time

Believe me, I don’t make the comparison lightly. But check out the terrific new war comedy on Paramount Network and tell me if you agree. My review in Primetimer.

Can Great TV survive in an age of endless TV?

There were 532 new or returning scripted shows in 2019. That’s according to the count of FX chief John Landgraf, and it led me to wonder if outstanding TV shows can stand out in today’s “more is more” world. My analysis in Primetimer.

‘Little America’ is another reason to get Apple TV+

This new anthology series sheds warmth, light, and humor on the immigrant experience. My review for Primetimer.

Why you should be watching ‘Bob (Hearts) Abishola’

The new sitcom from the creator of The Big Bang Theory is firing on all cylinders, as I argue in my review.

‘Party of Five’s’ provocative reboot

Whether you remember the 1990s fan favorite or not, the new version with the remarkable twist is worth checking out. My review.
