Where Have You Been Dave?

Hi <<First Name>>,

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far!

If you have been wondering where I have been, since I haven't sent out a newsletter in a while, let's just say I have been enjoying summer!

My wife Carrie and I just returned from two fun and relaxing summer vacations. The first vacation, we joined our good friends Tim and Laurie and headed to San Diego.

While in San Diego, we attended a Milwaukee Brewers vs San Diego Padres baseball game at Petco Park. We cheered on our visiting Brewers, but the Padres took the victory.

One of our favorite areas of San Diego was Little Italy. This small neighborhood offers a chic, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere packed with trendy cocktail bars, brewpubs and restaurants with bustling patios. We just loved the energetic vibe at night.

Carrie and I visited the USS Midway Museum. This historical naval aircraft carrier museum is located in downtown San Diego at Navy Pier. The USS Midway was the US Navy's longest serving carrier of the 20th century (1945-1992), and the largest ship in the world for a decade, housing 4,500 crew! The ship houses an extensive collection of aircraft, many of which were built in Southern California.

Along with Tim and Laurie, we spent a full day exploring the coast just north of San Diego. Along the way, we visited the University of California San Diego, stopped at Torrey Pines Golf Course (no we didn't tee off), and explored Del Mar, Carlsbad, and the 1,954 foot pier in Oceanside. On our final stop on the way back to San Diego we visited the sea lions at La Jolla Cove. (Thank you Tim for sharing the beautiful sea lion photo.)

Our second vacation was to Southwest Florida. It was a great chance for Carrie to unwind from a long school year (Carrie is a middle school counselor), and I took the opportunity to break away from my business routine, clear my mind, and re-energize for the second half of the year.

We spent two nights on Sanibel/Captivia Islands where we were greeted with an amazing sunset, beautiful beaches, and great food at our favorite restaurants.

The rest of our Florida vacation took place in the Marco Island, Naples, and Bonita Springs areas where we enjoyed morning walks on the beach, afternoon swims at the pool, and meeting up with friends in both Naples and Bonita Springs.

Of course, we enjoyed sunsets as well as many beautiful and relaxing outside restaurants.

As you can imagine, we used our Apple mobile devices quite extensively on both of our trips to help manage each trip, capture memories, communicate with friends and local services, and navigate us to our destinations.

In a previous newsletter edition titled "10 Ways I Used My iOS Devices While On Vacation," I detailed how I used my iPad and iPhone on a previous vacation. I shared some great tips on how to use your mobile device(s) to create a better vacation experience. You can read that 2-part edition right here:
