(we've rented the whole pool 
on Sunday, April 24th from 1-3 p.m.
OPEN SWIM BY DONATION (a donation of $20 per family is welcome).

COME OUT AND SUPPORT THIS NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION TO ASSIST ISLANDERS WITH AN INHERITED BLEEDING DISORDER!!!! Organized as a fundraiser for the PEI Chapter of Canadian Hemophilia Society

2) Build Boats - Launch Your Career - Deadline to Apply April 24

PEI's boat-building industry is thriving, with permanent, full-time positions available across the Island. There's an urgent need to hire 15 entry-level technicians to meet the demand. Another 15 positions will open during the next four years. Women boat builders are highly valued in the sector.

Central Development Corporation, through Skills PEI with funding by the Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning, is presenting a free 13 week fibreglass boat-building program to provide technical skills and on-the-job training, and connect the 15 participants with Island employers. The deadline for applications is April 24th, and the program begins May 2nd. 4) Soul Food is this Sunday!

Soul Food will be held on April 24th, at 10am, at the Baha'i Centre (20 Lapthorn Avenue). This month the theme is "Syllables & Sounds" and we will explore the power of words, speech, and sound, and how their inspired usage can touch and transform the human soul. The band Mercy, Please will be our musicians of the month. Please feel free to invite your friends and family or anyone you know to this uplifting multi-faith devotional event!


 

5) Video Launch at the Guild

PEI Breastfeeding Coalition, with help from a Wellness Grant, has produced two short public service announcement videos and some posters about breastfeeding, with an emphasis on getting help if things get difficult.

They will be screened Wednesday, April 27 at The Guild, Charlottetown, doors open at 5:15PM, and welcomes and the videos beginning at 5:30PM.

The videos were created by Island filmmaker Mille Clarkes (Island Green) and feature Island women, including Teresa Doyle, Jill Sabean and Eliza Knockwood. The posters incorporate stunning photos of Island women and their children in nature by photographers Amanda Kember and Robyn Gallaway, and created by graphic designer Maggie Lillo.

6) Seniors College Artwork Showcase

The artwork of Seniors College students and teachers will be showcased at The Guild, from April 27th to May 15th, with the opening reception on Wednesday April 27th, 7-9pm. There will be refreshments and everyone is welcome.

The Guild is located at 111 Queen Street in Charlottetown. The gallery is open from 9:00am ñ 5:00pm 7 days a week.  For more information please contact Marion Copleston at 675-4093



 

7) Final TRC Study Group at Confederation Centre Library

Our last Study Group on the Truth & Reconciliation Commission report is next
Thursday, April 28
Discussion of Calls to Action, - part 2 (pages 393 to 411), next steps, and closing ceremony.

8) Dandelion Festival

The PEI Environmental Health Co-op will host its 10th Dandelion Festival at Stratford Town Hall on Victoria Day, May 23 from 10 am to 3 pm.

This family event has activities for children—art and crafts, face painting outdoor games and and space to post art. Display booths cover topics including care of the environment, renewable energy, and sustainability.

10:00 am: Cooking with Dandelions (Brian Stanton & Jeremie Arsenault)
11:30 am: Vegetable Fermentation & Kombucha (Amy Smith & Verena Varga)
1:00 pm: Pesticide-Free Lawn & Garden Care (Cyndy MacCormac & Jamie Smith)
2:30 pm: Healthy Personal Care and Cleaning Products (Marion Copleston)

9) Auction Sale

Saturday, May 28th
10 am

Come to a traditional auction sale in support of the Friends of Confederation Centre scholarship program for the arts. Art, antiques, collectibles, and more. Furniture and other treasures from The Dunes. Donations welcome. Tax receipts available.

The Friends of Confederation Centre of the Arts is a non-profit volunteer organization of people who share a common interest and enthusiasm for Confederation Centre of the Arts, Canada's National Memorial to the Fathers of Confederation. 10) Atlantic Therapeutic Touch Network Annual Conference/Fundraiser being held in PEI for First Time

The Atlantic Therapeutic Touch Network is holding its annual conference May 27 to 29 in Stratford, Prince Edward Island. For more information or to register, visit www.atlanticttn.com.
 
Dr. Mary Anne Hanley, Univ. of Texas will be the presenter. This Conference is open to anyone with an interest in energy work, primarily using Therapeutic Touch.

ATTN is a not-for-profit health education Network since 1996.  This is the 20th Anniversary and the first time the annual conference is being held in PEI. (In the past has been held at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS)




11) Adventure Group Camps

The Adventure Group is currently taking registrants aged 9-14 for 2016 Adventure Camps. Some of this year's activities will include Ropes Course, Red Rock Climbing Wall, stand up paddle boarding, orienteering and survival skills, yoga, art, crafts and theater, swimming, fishing, sports and much much more!
