Victory, New Leadership, and Getting Involved!

Dear Fellow Republican,

Happy New Year! Due to your hard work, Georgia state political offices are still held by Republicans, and the United States Senate and House of Representatives have firm Republican majorities. As it stands, there is no reason why we should not see drastic reductions in harmful regulations and government waste, tax reform, and other clearly limited-government legislation throughout the upcoming Georgia legislative session and in the U.S. Congress.

However, as you have no doubt seen, our Republican-controlled Congress passed the “CRomnibus” spending bill before Christmas, continuing to fund increased growth of government and the power of the Obama presidency. Recently, John Boehner was re-elected by Republicans as Speaker of the House with the votes of all of Georgia’s Republican representatives, most notably even those that had promised during primary campaigns to vote against him. And, to top it off, there has been significant talk by Republicans about raising transportation taxes in the General Assembly this year, instead of talk about cutting waste in the DOT.

While these small items may be considered “the way the game is played” in politics, it is an insult to all of the hard work that we, and Republican voters throughout the state, have put forth to try to maintain the Republican brand and to get principled Republicans elected to office. These types of actions characterize our Republican brand in a negative light. This will cause voters to stop believing in the Republican Party and either stay out of politics or vote for another party’s politicians. Mark Levin, though I don't agree with everything he says, vocalizes this concept well and discusses his closeness to leaving the party.

If you take nothing else away from this message, SHOW UP to your GOP precinct meetings if you want to see positive change in the party.

If you want to demand more from your political system and Republican politicians, you must be involved in the Georgia GOP and be willing to be a leader or to get good leadership elected. This year, 2015, is a convention year for the Georgia GOP, where all new leadership of the Precinct, County, District, and State GOP organizations will be elected. And it begins next month on the following dates:

If you live in a county with over 80,000 people as of the last census, you will have precinct meetings on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Here, you will elect precinct officers and delegates to your county conventions.

County conventions will be held on March 14, 2015 (as well as precinct meetings for counties with under 80,000 people) where county officers will be elected, as well as leaders to represent your county at the district convention (to be held on April 18, 2015) and state convention (to be held May 14-15 in Athens, Georgia).

The district conventions will elect district officers, and the state committee members that serve as leaders of the Georgia Republican Party.

The state convention will elect all statewide officers, including the Georgia GOP Chairman, two Vice-Chairs, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer.

As a previous candidate for Georgia GOP Chairman, I know it is easy to get involved. If you need any assistance or information on how to run for party office, or want to ensure that you know the times or dates of your county meetings/conventions (many have not had locations set yet), please e-mail me and we will do our best to get you in contact with someone to assist you in your county. And most importantly, get more people involved. Subscribe all of your friends in Georgia to this list. You are not the only one wanting principled Republicans in political office, and many have become disenfranchised with the system. You have the power to improve politics, and the power to involve your neighbors and friends throughout the state. Together, we can ensure that Republicans we elect act like Republicans and Advance the GOP.

Thank you for your overwhelming support for Advance the GOP.  If you wish to get involved, please message me or contact me through Facebook. If you want to spread this to others, forward it to your true Republican friends and subscribe them to this mailing list. Together, we can all Advance the GOP in Georgia.

Thank you for your leadership in the Republican Party and commitment to its principles.
