Brunello di Montalcino Selections
Celebrated Estates, Highly Rated
Best Prices in the Country by a Distance!
We are proud to show off to you the fruits of our extensive network of suppliers, exhaustive searching for the best prices and experienced eye for a great wine.

All of these selections are offered at the lowest price in the US (according to Wine-Searcher Pro.) Not only are they well-priced, they are wonderful wines. This is our opinion, of course, but it is backed by critics, whose reviews are attached.

Brunello for your table - in almost every Brunello or Sangiovese offer, we make the case for this grape variety's almost unparalleled ability to match, and importantly, improve the food you put on your table. To keep it short in this offer; if you cook with olive oil, parmesan, basil, tomatoes, olives, anchovies, sausage, fatty meats, grilled meats, salumi, beans... then you owe it to your food to put a good glass of Sangiovese on the table. The meal is not complete without it.

Canalicchio di Sopra - is a prized estate, a fantastic and renowned  terroir and one of Montalcino's most important wines. Dating back to 1962, it is one of the oldest and most venerable in this young appellation, and a leader in the 'traditional' style.

Canalicchio di Sopra is all about terroir, craft and elegance. You never buy Canalicchio for power or a big show, instead it is about old-world sophistication, nuance and charm and in this style it is arguably the finest wine Montalcino produces.

We are delighted to be able to bring you two vintages with just a little age that show both the dry backbone (essential for food) and perfume that are the hallmarks of this terroir.

Lambardi - we were pointed to this estate by our friends at Siena Imports, their local agent. The estate is not well known but the 2015 is a super wine that offers some contrast with the more austere style of Canalicchio di Sopra. Lambardi is a lusher, perhaps friendlier wine, though still Sangiovese to the core.

Antinori - needs no introduction and the quote from the Wine Advocate below says it all anyway!

Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino 2017
36 bottles available, just arrived!
$59 per bottle
95 points Vinous: "The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is wildly perfumed, dusty and exotic, with balsam herbs, savory spices, red currants and plums coming across as so pretty yet rich and potent. A silky display of sour wild berries contrasted by candied citrus wows the senses as the 2017 plays a zesty sweet-and-sour act upon the palate. It’s long, youthfully chewy, yet still remarkably fresh, with rosy florals and tart, tart cherries giving way to chiseled tannins through the finale. This is a beautiful rendition of the 2017 vintage, one that takes the dry warmth of the year and expresses it with tremendous energy and verve. What"s more, I revisited this bottle over the course of 36 hours and it only got better with time. (Drink between 2024-2030)" - Antonio Galloni

Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino 2014
15 bottles available,
$75 per bottle
93 points Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino definitely shows the more accessible and easy-drinking side of this celebrated Sangiovese-based appellation in southern Tuscany. The wine offers all the prerequisite Brunello characteristics of wild berry and tobacco with pressed violets and fresh potting soil. However, those characteristics are presented at a notch or two of decreased intensity. This is quality common to the great majority of Brunellos I tasted from the 2014 vintage. I recommend this wine to lovers of Brunello looking for a wine to drink within the next ten years. Some 15,037 bottles were made."

Lambardi Brunello di Montalcino 2015
20 bottles available,
$45 per bottle
95 points Vinous: "Ruby red with a pale rim. Very pure and suave aromas and flavors of redcurrant, high quality spicy oak, and an enchanting liquid mineral element that lingers impressively on the mouthcoating aftertaste. Knockout Brunello from Lambardi, in my books their best effort in some time. Well done. (Drink between 2023-2033)" - Antonio Galloni

Pian Delle Vigne (Antinori) Brunello di Montalcino 2016
16 bottles available,
$65 per bottle
93 points Wine Advocate: "This is a wine to watch, thanks to some exciting new changes to come. The Antinori family purchased new vineyards located at the highest point in the appellation at the romantically named Passo del Lume Spento (Pass of the Extinguished Lantern) where higher altitudes make for cooler growing conditions. This new acquisition complements the estate's current holdings in Pian delle Vigne (translated as the "flatlands of vines") located at much warmer lower elevations with heavier reddish soils. That means future vintages (wines to come after the 2018 Brunello that is already in bottle as I write this) may see a blend of fruit from the two sites, giving the winemaking team much more latitude to blend from both cool and warm parcels. Or the Passo del Lume Spento fruit could end up in its own single-vineyard bottling. It will be interesting to see how the estate uses its new fruit and its new winery.

The Marchesi Antinori 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne takes us back to a classic profile for the estate in which you perceive an open and approachable bouquet. This is textbook Pian delle Vigne. The wine's foundations are rooted in ripeness with dried cherry and blackberry, and there are earthy notes with some powdery licorice and iron ore. Pian delle Vigne performs nicely in the celebrated 2016 vintage; however, this wine remains far more accessible than its peers, and I suggest a near to medium-term drinking window as a result. It was racked out of barrel and went into glass sooner in order to preserve the aromatic integrity of the vintage. Prioritizing glass over barrel aging is a trend we are seeing across the appellation. Some 190,000 bottles were made."
